Elizabeth Taylor – the Queen of Diamonds
By now everyone has heard about the spectacular results in the first day of Christie’s auction of Elizabeth Taylor’s world-renowned diamond collection. More than a few items carried seven-figure pre-sale estimates, but the bidding went above and beyond for what Christie’s Americas Chairman Mark Porter called “the greatest jewelry collection to be offered in a century.”

Taylor’s famous Krupp diamond ring, a 33.19-carat bauble that was especially dear to heart because (like so much of her jewelry) it was a gift from Richard Burton, was estimated at $2.5-$3.5 million, but blew way past that, finally being knocked down for over $8.8 million.

Excited about this year’s Rago Arts Jewelry auction because the jewelry is always gorgeous and each year I’ve always gotten the chance to bid on items. This auction never feels intimidating and I feel confident in the company. Every year I do a roundup of my favorite lots, and this year is no different…except this year I got a sneak peek into the jewelry cases! The party season is here and whether you love or hate it, you have to show up and show willing with your colleagues. It’s becoming more and more popular to offer the clothing guidance ‘business casual’ – but what does that mean for a party?
For men it means trousers, not jeans. Chinos are acceptable with a formal shirt but not with more casual clothing such as a jumper. A jumper can be worn with formal trousers though.
