Studded Handbags, Jewelry & Clothing: Pyramid Studs & Grommets

Studded Bracelets – photo myshape.com Pyramid studs are on clutch purses, totes, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, cuffs, jeans, jackets, belts & everything. Jump on this hot trend for fall.

This fall, every website is filled with studded clothes and accessories like leather cuffs with pyramid shaped metal grommets. Any girl of any age can wear a few of these, but unless she is a woman going to a wild punk rock club or a darkly Gothic punk party, she should keep her ensemble toned down a bit.

Punk Rock Style

History lesson: Studded denim jackets were big in the early disco years of the 70s, and after that, studs, spikes, and metal chains were taken over by punk rock lovers. So, a girl needs to adopt a bit of a rocker-chic attitude to wear flashy studs correctly. However, trendy women should leave the pointed, dangerous-looking spikes for hard-core girls. And, high schoolers will probably find that spikey things don’t meet any school’s dress code.

True punks will soon be amazed as hoards of little old ladies enter the Royal Opera House covered in pyramid studs and diamonds, as this common street style goes uptown.

High school girls can cover themselves with Lourdes’ Material Girl clothing and accessories, but women who grew up with the original material girl (Madonna) should start with one or two focal points.

Studded Purses

The easiest way to try out this trend is to pick up an inexpensive vegan (faux) leather purse, though Coach has higher-priced leather handbags for chicks with means. Here are some cool, but inexpensive, brands:

  • Lisa Davis Designs: This girlie clutch (see top photo) has a lot of metal, with grommets, zippers, and pyramid studs covering the front of the bag.
  • Miss Tina: Her huge Quilted Entice Handbag tote has truly outrageous outsized studs.
  • Studded Vucetta Bag at Chicos.com.
  • Betseyville: Betsey Johnson is the forever-young American queen of rocker glam. Any woman or girl, with a playful outlook, will love her Rockin’ Studs Handbag in metallic blue or purple. Wear this bag with black during the day or wear it with anything while prowling around at night. ($88)

Studded Clothing

After living with a few accessories, it’s time to go big-time with clothing. To save money, the cheaper way to live the fashion is to add one’s own pyramid studs onto older clothing. Black studs always look great on black. Start small and learn the technique on an inexpensive belt, but see websites like Chicos.com or HotTopic.com for ideas. Then, work up to a metal studded black motorcycle jacket.

  • Gryphon Studded Collar Coat
  • JM Collection Studded Tee: This feminine top has studs around the neckline, only. (Macys.com) Other tops have studs on the shoulders.
  • Material Girl Studded Faux Cropped Motorcycle Jacket: It’s for anyone who can fit into junior’s sizes.
  • Luxirie Dress: Copy this fab idea by adding pyramid-stud buttons to any shirt or shirtdress. Adult women can wear this mini dress as a tunic over leggings, jeans, or denim leggings.
  • Miss Me Jean Diamond Studs Bootcut: Miss Me has several great studded jeans. If adding studs to jeans, remember not to attach them to the lower pocket, where one sits.
  • Guess Celia Studded Shirt Dress: Buy this handsome version or use the details for a beautiful DIY shirtdress. This will go with everything a girl owns. See it at Macys.com and other websites.

There are so many ways to add studs without looking overdone. Skinny girls can wear studded belts. Heavier girls can always use some stud bling on their wrists, shoes, and purses. Pyramid studs have been around for a while, but adding just one or two new studded pieces can make last year’s outfits look hot. Read More:
